Some times, Prayers Don’t get Answered!!!

Even if you mean well, and its a prayer to get closer to GOD, sometimes, it just doesn’t yield any results. I speak under no scriptural authority and I have nothing to back me up. I am pretty much free loading.

The reason I say this is because, I believe God has  set apart a time of deliverance for every situation you face in life;  weather it be a bad relationship, an addiction, financial needs etc. We just have to trust him blindly that he will come through for you. Sometimes we don’t see the answer to our prayers, simply because we do not want it bad enough, other times it’s the wrong prayer. I have personally struggled with so many issues , from intimacy issues to addictions to you name it. But I remember very clearly, in each instance, when I teared up before GOD (out of helplessness) he answered my prayer.

When I hear people say GOD spoke to me or when they say I had a vision, I am pretty skeptical. I am even skeptical about the ones who speak in tongues (even though the bible clearly mentions that it is a gift). God has never spoken to me in an audible voice, but sometimes I get a moment of clarity, usually after I wake up in the morning, and the decision is very resolute and clear and I have no doubts about backing away from it. It just feels right. ( I am not talking about a situation where I am given an opportunity between  having to pick between two jobs and I have a hard time making the right decision)

When I have a crystal clear direction of where I need to be headed, I take it as a direction from GOD. It has always worked out for me till now. The lesson that I have learnt from my understanding of my GOD is that he doesn’t want you to give up, EVER!!!! He wants you to have faith, hope and trust in HIM. Every attempt that you make to resolve an issue by placing it before him is a tiny step closer to the will of GOD, even if you didn’t get any results.

If  you are struggling…. I hope one of these verses will comfort you

Zephaniah 3:17

“The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Revelation 21:4

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Hebrews 4:15-16

“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

last but not the least if you are struggling with sin, hold on to this verse, because it is unconditional and its a promise of deliverance.

Romans 8:1 (KJV)

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

  1. “It has always worked for me until now.” Is God more silent in your life now, or maybe you do not feel direction from Him right now? This is what we call “darkness of the soul.” This is what Mother Teresa was speaking about. I went through this for an entire summer where I neither heard God, felt God, saw God, or had any direction at all from God. I remember standing out in my front yard tears streaming down my face saying over and over, “God where are You, I need you.”

I remember in St. Faustina’s Diary she stated when she was going through it, “The more I prayed it seemed the angrier God became.”

God does however allow these moments in our life. It was the most painful of all moments for myself. But you know Jesus felt abandoned also on the Cross. We cried to God feeling so “forsaken.” Unless we go through these times, we will never know how Christ suffered with this.

All of these things I am reading in your post, are exactly what Christ suffered. I want you to see that, because the spiritual growth you will have from all of this, will be astronomical. God Bless, SR

      1. Thomas,

If you “never felt if God had abandoned you,” then He did not!!!!!!!! You DO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE, IF THAT IS HOW YOU FELT!!!!!!!!!!! Think about it???? If you “did not feel abandoned,” then you were not. Trust me, you will know the difference. Sometimes it is not that He abandons us, it is just that He remains quiet and still, and we feel that way. God was very silent on the Day of the Cross.

Quit putting yourself down so much on what you know about God. I have read some of your post and you are more intelligent in spiritual matters then you think you are! 🙂 You need to start growing in it, quit questioning everything, and walk in your wisdom and knowledge of what you do know daily.

A spiritual life Thomas, is about our faith but, I pray for wisdom and knowledge every day of my life. Sometimes I get it in leaps and bounds, and sometimes in small pieces, and sometimes through a lot of suffering. In fact most of my knowledge has come through suffering.

You need to quit questioning every single thing in your life. You are trying to walk with God as best as you can, and that is all any of us can do. Sometimes we are going to do it well, and there are other times we are going to fail. It does not matter to God Thomas. All He is asking for is our effort, faith, and trust. He will handle the rest. Make sense? God Bless, SR

      2. makes sense… I couldn’t get close to GOD for a long time, because I kept waiting for the right time, You know when I am all nice and good. After 25 years of that, I finally am now realizing that… that is not even a plan. So I trust GOD in all matters and I refuse to walk away from him no matter how much grief or sin I am embroiled in. That’s all I know… and I hope it stays that way.. till the day I die

  2. While we are confident that he will not abandon us, we are to strive ourselves to be conformed to his image. You have believed a lie that you are more comfortable being depressed and thereby believe that you are addicted to depression. God says ” the joy of the lord is my strength”. If we find ourselves depressed remember that is not the holy spirit’s work. Death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit. The more you profess and believe that you are depressed, the less chances there are for you to be joyful. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he…. God says, rejoice always, in everything give thanks. One advice for you is to start praising and thanking god even for your downfalls daily. When praises go up, blessings will pour down. I was very close to my dad and I lost him, but he was a godly father who battled in prayer for many years for his wayward son. I have seen tears flow down his face when he prays for him. But he never saw god’s deliverance of his son. He told me in his death bed that he was worried about his son. My mom is still alive and crying to god for my brother to be free from his bad habits…porn, smoking, alcohol, etc..Her life is the most depressing being a widow and constantly being worried about her son….but she has the joy of the lord and remains hopeful that someday he will be free…Focus on your blessings and when depression sets in rebuke it in your prayer. He was punished for our sins and by his stripes we are healed. He has a plan to prosper you and not to harm you. Take care my friend and remember…there is nothing that God cannot restore. Friends, family, health, joy, peace, job …nothing.

    1. Hello concerned stranger,
Thank you for your kind words.
      Someone once said
“Step into my shoes and walk the life I’m living and if you get as far as I am, Just maybe you’ll see how strong I really am.”
I feel sorry for your mom & dad and I am almost tempted to delete the post, because I sound so naive. You take care.
