Embers of Love

Embers of love by Maria Joseph

The longings of my soul

An oblivion to all

The sobs of my heart

You’ve only seen in part

Your heart wouldn’t bow

To the embers of my love

My love for you couldn’t be contained

My mind had to be trained

To stop being restless

Unaffected was my fondness

I was bereft of slumber

With pangs of anger

Rend my heart to see

My desperate plea

I wanted to flee

To a state of glee

Your company had given me pleasure

Your compliments, I’ll treasure

My heart was riven with sorrow

When you left me for a better tomorrow!
