Why do the wicked lie
And act so sly
Relentlessly they try
To make others cry
Why do they inflict pain
And cause tears to rain
Why do they deceive?
By doing so, what do they receive?
They lay a snare
Like lions, they’ll tear
A net they prepare
But I cry in despair
“Be merciful my God
Their tongue is a sword
I take refuge under your wings
For me, you perform all things
Please don’t destroy
Annihilate satan’s envoy
Reproach the one who’d swallow me up
Then I will praise you with my harp
Exalt your name among the nations
For your mercy reaches to the heavens!
