Failure to launch

Don’t you just hate it when you can’t seem to catch a break. Wouldn’t you like to be the envy of people. Sadly for you, that will never happen, because you are not perfect. You will never be like your pastor or the cousin who is now the CXO of some corporation; that friend who keeps hopping on jet planes or dream to walk under the shadow of that perfect parent.   No, you are destined to be imperfect, always under the scrutiny of some watchful eye. you are the outcasts:- addicts, child molestors, murderers, prostitutes.

It’s hard, isn’t it when you put an addict  and a child molestor on the same pedestal. Can we actually forgive a murderer?

Sin doesn’t come in sizes.  For all have sinned and come short of the glory of GOD ( Rom 3:23 )

Yet we are happy to compartmentalize.

Some people are born with a silver spoon. They are born into richness. Much like that, some of us are born with a blessed character. Doing God’s will comes natural. Just like the prodigal son’s brother.  It does not mean that GOD sees the rest of us as any different.

“Its not the sin that will condemn us or kill us, but the resignation to the faith that we  are unforgivable”

Know then that GOD cares for us the vile sinners just as much as he cares for the good fellas. Its simple, if you had two pets, one pedegreed to the highest order and the other one a rescue pup from the local canine shelter… would you care more for the pedegreed animal. It’s the same with GOD. Know this then, if your sins are many, you are likely to fall in love with GOD so much more than your perfect earthly father or your famous pastor.

Next time you are on a binge, doing your most favourite sin, don’t just stand/sit there idle, let your heart cry out to GOD and ask him for his forgiveness and your deliverance, just like the canannite women who begged for the scraps from the Lord’s table,  or the woman who loved GOD more because her sins were many. You deserve life with the full measure of happiness that GOD intends you to have. Don’t let that imperfection stop you.

I don’t think you heard me the first time. PRAY beore you commit the sin, as you commit the sin and after you commit the sin. GOD hears you every single time and he is sending you help as we speak. As long as you pray, there is hope for a better life [ever after!!!].

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” :Rom 8:1

“No Strings Attached”

PS: You should be gratefull because  you are lucky to know that you have an issue that can be addressed. The real failure is when you don’t know what your issue is. The world has yet to catchup on pride, greed, jealousy etc. It would be a shame if you were perfect in the world’s eyes, but a complete failure in the eyes of your creator.

Repentance vs. Addiction

Repentance is a loaded word in the world of addiction. Can an addict really repent, if he/she keeps going back to their vomit.  Else where I read the true signs of repentance in an addict

  1. Humility
  2. Willingness to serve others
  3. Responsibility for oneself
  4. Attitude of thankfullness
  5. Submissive spirit

I truly beleive that I do have all of these qualities, except in my hour of weakness. the bewitching hour that takes over my sanity and makes me insane. I have overcome a few inner demons  and I am still working on the horde that remains.

Can you actually pray to GOD while you are exercising your weakness…or when you are in the thick of it? I am not sure if it’s right, but I have done so many times. Somehow I figured that GOD would overlook my state of being. Truth be said, he has freed me miraculously, under extreme circumstances, when I knew for sure that I was headed down the rabbit hole.

Acts 26:20 declares, “I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.” Is this really possible for an addict? How many times can you repent (Is that even repentance?)  before you actually kick the habit?

This idea that if you haven’t completely changed your behavior then you haven’t truly repented, can be damaging to anyone’s faith but is absolutely devastating to the faith of an addict.

So if repentance doesn’t mean to completely change your behavior, what does it mean?

I believe that repentance means that one has to change his heart and want to serve God more than himself.  Even when your life is consumed by addiction, but if you start spending time in prayer and seeking out encouragement from fellow Christians, you are already on your path to recoery. You may not ever completely beat your addiction, but your imperfect devotion to God is no different from anyone else’s imperfect devotion to God.

Imperfect devotion to God is what we all have. Anyone who believes that their devotion is more than imperfect might as well scoff at the cross, because anyone who’s perfect doesn’t have a need for it.

Even as I write this, I struggle with some old, and some new found addictions. If it weren’t for the cross, I would have taken my own life many times over. But with the cross, I have hope till my last breath. Hope that never diminishes, but grows stronger day by day, hour by hour, second by second.

As Stephen Hawkings put it ” As long as there is life, there is hope!!!”

The septum of my heart, broken
diffusing red with the occult
weak, listless, untenable
wayfarer, languid and lost

Horns for a crown
cerebrum on fire
phallic lust
eyes wide open

wartorn, savage lands
landscape of my heart
weary from trials
assailed by demons

soul lamenting, spirit torn
estranged, wrenched, emasculated
blood red skies
reigning on me

hallowed grounds
oblation for guilt
my weakness, his strength
new wine for old blood

I wish

I wish someone would have told me that the kind of pornography you’re most turned on by is usually linked to a corresponding hurtful event in your life

I wish someone would have told me that the dopamine and oxytocin being released from my watching certain types of pornography would cause me to question my sexual orientation, which in turn cost me relationships with friends.

I wish someone would have explained what “sexual anorexia” was and that countless young men are unable to get erections because they’ve been watching porn since they were around 15 years old.

Is It Okay to Smoke Marijuana?

Drugs will not make one’s problems disappear; they will only delay the onset of having to deal with problems and will often create more problems.
SEAN MCDOWELL

In my past, I smoked plenty of marijuana, so I get the draw. Being high feels good, and when life stinks who doesn’t long for a good escape? But as Christians, our escape route must look different from the non-believing world’s. We are to turn toward God, not drugs. He is our pathway to freedom, unlike drugs, which often entangle us.

While the Bible speaks directly to alcohol it doesn’t address the use of marijuana. Yes, I’ve heard the desperate attempts to justify weed usage on the basis of Genesis 1:29 where God says, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth.” But do we really think God had getting high in mind? Talk about a poor use of Scripture. And would we use the same logic for the coco leaf—the raw material for producing the drug cocaine? Of course not! We are to steward God’s creation wisely.

Now, you might be asking, “What’s wrong with smoking a little pot, especially since it’s legal in certain states now?”

First, just because marijuana is legal in some states doesn’t make it moral. As Christians, Scripture, not law, is to serve as our moral compass. Remember, we are to follow the law of the land so far as it aligns with our moral principles, but the moment the law conflicts with the law of God we are to side with God (Acts 4:18-19).

Second, unlike alcohol, marijuana can’t be enjoyed in moderation, especially today. When I smoked weed all it took was one good hit of some green bud and one could have a pretty good high. With today’s increased levels of THC the marijuana is far more potent. And while I’ve met countless people who can enjoy a glass of wine and be seemingly unaffected, I’ve never met someone in my past that smoked weed for the purpose of not getting high.

Third, marijuana has been medically proven to have harmful side effects—from laziness to destroying brain cells, which reduces one’s IQ—two things the Bible forbids (see Proverbs 6:9-11 and 1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Fourth, marijuana often serves as a gateway drug. It spikes one’s curiosity for other drugs, leaving many wondering, “I wonder what _______ would feel like?” It has a way of capturing many of its participants and turning them into full-blown drug addicts.

With the insights provided by medical research and through examination of biblical principles, it’s amazing that the question of marijuana usage is even up for debate among the Christian constituency. Avoid it, friend.

 Thought to Ponder

Ultimate peace is never found through using drugs. It’s only found through Jesus Christ.
